The Americold Internship Experience (AIE) is a 12-week, full-time, paid opportunity at locations across the United States where students learn about the logistics & supply chain business through on-site opportunities and industry-specific projects. During their time with us, students gain firsthand insights into what it’s really like to work in the cold chain from best-in-class industry leaders and mentors.

Automation

Step into the future of the cold chain. As an Automation intern, you’ll explore the inner workings of our cutting-edge automated facilities and learn how they differ from traditional operations. From data gathering and systems analysis to hands-on exposure with automated material handling equipment, you’ll gain experience at the intersection of logistics, engineering, and innovation. Work alongside experts to see how technology is transforming the way we move food around the world.

Accounting & Finance

Gain hands-on experience at the core of our business. As an Accounting & Finance intern, you’ll support key processes like account reconciliations, journal entries, monthly close, and financial reporting. You’ll help analyze performance data, assist in preparing management reports and executive presentations, and contribute to compliance efforts. This is a chance to see how finance powers decision-making in a global cold chain organization.

Distribution Operations

See what keeps the cold chain moving. As a Distribution Operations intern, you’ll learn the fundamentals of automated warehouse systems and gain firsthand exposure to how our facilities run. From material handling to warehouse management software and process improvement, you’ll work alongside operations leaders to understand how efficiency, precision, and technology drive Americold’s daily distribution success.

Energy and Sustainability

Be part of the team driving sustainable innovation in the cold chain. As an Energy and Sustainability intern, you’ll learn how Americold integrates energy-efficient technologies like LED lighting and solar power into our facilities. You’ll gain insight into our ESG strategy, support sustainability reporting, and contribute to initiatives that help us earn top industry accolades. This is your opportunity to see how operational excellence and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.

Engineering (IE)

Help optimize the systems that power the cold chain. As an Engineering intern, you’ll work on real-world projects focused on process improvement, time studies, and warehouse process flows. From analyzing operations to recommending changes that drive efficiency, you’ll gain hands-on experience in how engineering supports continuous improvement across our facilities.

Human Resources

Gain broad exposure to the people side of the cold chain. As a Human Resources intern, you’ll support core HR functions like employee relations, workplace investigations, performance management, and employee engagement. You’ll also assist with labor relations, compliance research, and policy development. This track offers a well-rounded view of HR, with opportunities to learn from experts in areas like Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, and Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging.

IT/Information Security

Explore the tech backbone of a global logistics network. As an IT/Information Security intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience across IT and cybersecurity—from infrastructure and cloud services to network administration and data protection. Work alongside experts to see how technology supports secure, seamless operations in a 24/7 supply chain environment.

Legal

As a Legal intern, you’ll assist with drafting and reviewing key agreements, support contract analysis, and help respond to claims and subpoenas. You’ll also work with contract databases, revise legal forms, and contribute to compliance projects - gaining exposure to the legal processes that keep Americold running smoothly and responsibly .

Maintenance & Reliability

Learn what it takes to keep complex cold storage facilities running at peak performance. As a Maintenance & Reliability intern, you’ll explore the fundamentals of facility services and energy management. Interns complete a hands-on reliability project and present their findings to business leaders. Along the way, you'll participate in trainings, collaborate across teams, and gain valuable insight into operational safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Sales & Marketing

As a Sales & Marketing intern, you’ll assist with sales analysis, business development, and sales enablement activities. You’ll also support marketing efforts by helping create collateral and contributing to campaigns that showcase Americold’s value. It’s a great opportunity to see how sales and marketing work together to fuel our success.

Supply Chain Solutions

Work alongside senior analysts and managers on projects that optimize supply chain design and transportation. As a Supply Chain Solutions intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience with data modeling, transportation solutions, and continuous improvement initiatives. You’ll also contribute to tool development and cross-functional efforts that enhance efficiency across the Americold network.

“Last summer was my first internship experience at Americold and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was 1 of 2 accounting interns who worked with several teams within the department and had the chance to meet and collaborate with countless new people. The people in my department were very accommodating and offered guidance in any way I might need it. Working with different teams frequently gave me the opportunity to gain a wider perspective within the field. On top of having a great experience from a learning point of view, the people in the company are what made the days more exciting. I genuinely looked forward to interacting with the people around me. Especially the other interns.

This year, I am back for my second internship, but this time in the Sales Enablement role. I am looking forward to soaking up as much knowledge as I can in this new field and am very excited to meet my new coworkers and other interns.

Capstone Project

During your internship, you'll dedicate time to a project that will be meaningful to the company. At the end of the experience, you'll have the opportunity to present and share your final ‘Capstone Project’ with company leadership and other invited guests.
