Americold Internship Experience (AIE):

The Americold Summer Internship Experience is a 12-week, full time, paid internship that takes place over the summer term in various locations throughout the country. The internship opportunity will afford our interns to better understand of the supply chain industry, work on challenging and industry-specific projects, plus the ability to collaborate with organizational leaders, colleagues, and peers.

Areas of Focus:

Industrial Engineering

Help optimize the systems that power the cold chain. As an Engineering intern, you’ll work on real-world projects focused on process improvement, time studies, and warehouse process flows. From analyzing operations to recommending changes that drive efficiency, you’ll gain hands-on experience in how engineering supports continuous improvement across our facilities.

 

Maintenance & Reliability

This internship provides foundational exposure to Facility Services and Energy Management within third-party logistics. You are expected to complete a reliability-focused project, culminating in a presentation to business leaders. The experience includes formal training sessions, informal interactions with cross-functional teams, and adherence to company policies and OSHA regulations. You’ll gain practical insight into operations while developing professional skills through structured assignments and collaborative learning opportunities.

 

Built Environment Innovation

Working with our existing facilities, you’ll support strategic initiatives aimed at transforming Americold’s global facilities through innovative engineering solutions. Under the guidance of the Senior Director of Global Built Environment Innovation, you’ll execute projects through data collection, facility visits, and system analysis to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for innovation. You’ll also deliver weekly stakeholder updates and presenting a final executive-level report, while navigating enterprise systems and building strong cross-functional relationships to drive sustainable improvements.

 

 

What Experience You Need:

· Currently a rising junior or senior enrolled at an accredited college/university in Industrial Engineering, Engineering Reliability, Environmental Sciences, Agricultural Engineering, Robotics or related field of study.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact comfortably at all levels of the organization including with senior level leaders

· Detailed oriented, multi-tasking, and analytical problem-solving skills

What could set you apart:

· Experience in developing digital transformation apps using AWS technologies like: Java, React, DocumentDB, AWS             Technologies, PL/SQL, CloudWatch & GitHub.

· Experience with Docker, Amazon Forecast, SageMaker or JupyterHub in cloud environments

· Working knowledge of applicable hardware platforms

· Understanding of supply chain and warehouse management

· Understanding of Six Sigma or Lean Process

· Data mining and analysis

· Familiarity of database and query knowledge

· Advanced knowledge of SQL

· Strong technical skills: Excel, Python, and Power BI
