Americold – Helping our customers Feed the World

Here at Americold we are now recruiting for a General Manager for our Spalding site.

As General Manager, you’ll take ownership of a large scale logistics and warehouse operation, with a clear mandate to deliver reliable, efficient, and safe service to our customers. You’ll lead a high-performing team of logistics professionals, manage a significant P&L, and drive operational excellence across warehousing, transportation, and fulfilment.

What you'll be doing centres on leading daily operations across the facility while ensuring that service, safety, and cost targets are consistently met. You’ll be responsible for developing teams, enforcing company standards, and maintaining a strong culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

You’ll ensure all warehouse and transport operations comply with company procedures, labour regulations, and safety policies. Through regular performance reviews and metric tracking, you'll identify trends, take corrective action, and keep operations running at peak efficiency.

Driving Lean and Six Sigma initiatives will be key to improving process flow, labour utilization, and cost control. You’ll work closely with cross-functional partners—from HR and Engineering to Business Development—to align operations with broader business goals and customer expectations.

Team development is a major focus. You'll train and coach supervisors and frontline managers to build capability, improve retention, and support career growth. You’ll also foster a safety-first mindset, partnering with internal safety teams to proactively mitigate risk and ensure compliance across all sites.

In collaboration with the Business Development team, you’ll serve as the operational point of contact for key customer accounts, ensuring service delivery aligns with expectations and contractual requirements.

  • Proven expertise in transport and warehouse management.
  • Minimum 5 years in senior leadership or general management within a logistics or warehouse environment, ideally in temperature-controlled operations.

  • Proven track record of delivering cost savings and process improvements, preferably using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Strong operational and financial acumen, with the ability to analyse performance and implement improvement plans.
